I've been thinking about Buddhism for probably a year now if not more... wondering if it is something that suits me. While in Copenhagen, a classmate told me where she practices. I thought about going but I don't think I was really ready to be open to Buddhism until now. I've been through an emotional challenge that has thankfully opened my eyes to see what I totally had not realized before about myself. It's profound and life changing for me. And this introspection has pointed me closer then ever before to Buddhism.
Growing up in Catholic schools, I've been very wary, even turned off, by religion but I knew at some point I needed something to guide me through what I felt was missing. I knew I needed spirituality, though not religion. Nothing forced, nothing I must blindly believe... I'm encouraged to discover things for myself and to even question buddha. It's very mind over matter, do what is write even if it's the hardest thing to do... something I believe. The more I look into Buddhism the more I realize that the life lessons I've learned on my own and beliefs and values I hold are very much Buddhist. Even still, I don't intend this to be a religious thing so much as a life guidance and learning. Something to help me better understand my mind, others, and life.

The "new car smell" is caused mostly by plasticizers evaporating from the car interior.
Great...

So my smoke detector works. That's good to know haha. It went off after I left my parmesan crisps in the oven a bit too long.
Anyhow, we took a trip to Benttencourt wood. So much awesome information about sustainable materials (and this ain't no green washing). I wish I could use some of the materials in my apt! I think I'll actually use the AMF Safecoat paint. Actually creates a barrier so the offgassing from the under layer can't come through. Check the Bettencourt website. So many great products!
There's bamboo of course but you have to be careful you're getting a good product. Cheaper bamboo aren't as hard so won't be good for flooring. Unfortunately American bamboo isn't as hard as Chinese bamboo. There are some products made of bamboo harvested too early which then creates a weaker product. Bamboo should only be harvested every 7 to 9 years.
Cork is another great material. Used for flooring but it's a great acoustical material as well.
Another amazing item is American Clay. A great natural wall surface that can take 3 times it's weight in water which balances out the humidity in the room. It's even suitable for bathrooms. It's said that even the mirror won't fog up as much. The clay then releases negative ions into the air when the moisture evaporates. "A negative charge in a space acts on our capacity to absorb and utilize oxygen, causing us to have more energy and feel invigorated." There are more negative ions in fresh clean air. The opposite effect due to regular paints and other materials end up making many people sick or feel depressed. Even after the paint smell has gone, the paint is still off gassing. This is where the AMG Safecoat paint is beneficial And if you move and want to take the clay with you, just oversaturate with water and scrape it off the wall. Remix the dried clay with water and reapply! Crazy isn't it?!

Woohoo! So glad Jabba won! But really was there any question? One of my favorite crews even before all this TV shit. The first is Mindtricks though. My pick me up when I need it. You guys are truly amazing and blessed with so much talent, heart, and wonderfully good souls. Thank you for sharing your talent.

This is so awesomely cute. I so want to know what's going on inside this little man's head. To understand how great Jabbawockeez are at such a young age is amazing... or it's scripted but still So cute!

I'm helping my friend Lily spread the word about YourYouness. It's something that certainly would've helped me when I was going through my what do I do with my life period. She's an awesomely insightful friend so I have no doubt that she'll be able to help so many people. She's certainly helped me throughout our years of friendship.
If you're hesitant, check her out on the web http://youryouness.com/ and check out her story. If you'd like to contact her to see if this suits you, feel free to do so. She welcomes it.
Good luck! Be happy and do what you like. Life is too short! Take care.

I'm sure many of us have asked this question. Here is an article my old co-worker sent me. Pretty interesting...

OMG this is hilarious! Got this from a friend.

Good/meaningful lyrics make me smile. KRS-One's spot: "...Me? I got no jewels on my neck. Why? I don't need em. I got your respect..."
"...This is the difference between MC'ing and rap. Rappers spit rhymes that are mostly illegal. MCs spit rhymes that uplift their people..."
I liked that the vid included graff but I would've liked to see the dance element too. Kanye's inclusion doesn't make sense to me but I'll just leave it at that.
It's pretty awesome what Nike's done here.

I just had a great convo with Turtles. It came at a great time as well. I realize that I'm living in the meantime... we both are actually. And though it may suck at times, it's a good thing. We can only come away better from it, I hope
